Singer, songwriter, and wonderful human Michael Tylo is the first ever guest on Resonant Rest! They talk to host Oceaan Pendharkar about feeding their creative practice through listening and experimenting, and feeding themself with self love, curiosity, and really good home cooked meals.
Michael dreams of making music in an anti-capitalist reality and is finding ways to hold onto hope by visioning queer musical futures.
Bio
Michael Tylo is a singer, composer, producer, and human residing on unceded Squamish, Musqueam, & Tseil-Waututh territory (so-called Vancouver). They are inspired by sounds that evoke nostalgia, excitement, euphoria, & tears, regardless of the instrument or genre. Michael is passionate about production, and enjoys spending hours analyzing songs to understand how they are mixed and how to recreate some of their favourite sounds. In 2020, they released their first single “Simpler Times”, which they produced themself and co-wrote with fellow artist Zayda. “Simpler Times” will be one of five tracks on Michael’s first EP, which will be released at some point this year.
