Welcome to Resonant Rest! Resonant Rest is a Grounded Futures podcast series about musicians and creative practice, rest, sustenance, dreams, and community. Through a series of conversations, we will explore these topics with musicians living on stolen Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) lands (so-called Vancouver). We are interested in collective learning, starting conversations that create real change, and imagining futures where everyone can thrive.
Resonant Rest is hosted by Grounded Futures’ Solo Together Podcast Resident, Oceaan Pendharkar. Oceaan is creating Resonant Rest as Grounded Futures’ Podcaster-In-Residence, with the mentorship of carla bergman, Jamie-Leigh Gonzales, and Melissa Roach.
Oceaan has made music in environments they love, and has also experienced “creative” environments that just don’t feel right. Lately, they have been dreaming about what music could look like in an ideal world not only in their life, but also for the community at large. Oceaan is very excited to have conversations about creative practice, rest, sustenance, dreams, and community with musicians they look up to.
Bio
Oceaan Pendharkar is a musician, songwriter, producer, and music educator of Indian and Dutch ancestry living as an uninvited guest on stolen lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. In addition to playing keys with various local artists and writing/producing/mixing their own music under the name Oatmeal Queen, they have recently started two new collaborative music projects: Glow Motive (with Anjalica Solomon) and the Tender Collapse (with Thomas Hoeller and Michael Tylo). Oceaan is also currently producing a podcast called Resonant Rest with the team at Grounded Futures about musicians, creative practice, and — you guessed it — rest. Oceaan loves friends, food, and hugs.
