Solo Together Podcast Residency — Call for Applications

Paid mentorship opportunity for a Podcaster-in-Residence

June 2021 – April 2022

Grounded Futures is hosting a 10-month residency for a BIPOC woman or gender nonconforming creator who is new to podcasting.

Who it’s for

  • BIPOC women/femmes and gender diverse folks
  • Those who are new to podcasting and looking to start their own show
  • No prior knowledge of podcasting or working with sound required
  • Must be available during the 10-month period to produce a completed work (scope and timelines will be agreed on collaboratively!)
  • As chronic collaborators, we would be open to working with a two-person team who would share the work and the funds!

What we’re offering

  • A 10-month paid residency at $1,000/month (about 10 hours a week, but we work together to set a schedule that works best for you)
  • Creation of the first season of your own podcast show (6-8 episodes)
  • Mentorship in: ideation, tech, curation, promotions, and fund-raising
  • Access to podcasting equipment, software, and a laptop
  • Option to host your show on the Grounded Futures platform, if desired
  • Ongoing support and collaboration beyond the residency (mutual aid for the win!)

The Why

Through the Solo Together Podcast Residency, we aim to share the necessary tools and skills with an artist/storyteller in the tech and media realm. Representation in this media has the potential to shift our social norms and power dynamics, and we believe that part of this work is the importance of being paid industry rates, so folks can carve out space for their stories and voice to be amplified. Further Details

The Solo Together Podcast Residency is a paid mentorship opportunity for an emerging artist over the age of 18 to launch their own show. During the residency, the Resident will work alongside carla bergman, Jamie-Leigh Gonzales, Melissa Roach, and other members on our team. Together, we will support the resident to create one season of their own podcast — from concept to dissemination*.

It is not necessary to have a pitch ready for the show you’d like to create, but if you have an idea, we’d love to hear it!

If you are interested in becoming Grounded Futures’ 2021 Podcaster-in-Residence, please fill out the application by April 30, 2021.

If you have any questions about further details or eligibility, you are welcome to email us at
